Our Mission

To reduce the incidence, trauma and secrecy of child sexual abuse by providing professionally guided self-help groups for child victims, adult victims and their families.

Parents United offers support groups to anyone affected by child sexual abuse.  Adults served by Parents United include adults molested as children, non-offending parents/foster parents, offenders, parents/foster parents of children with sexual behavior problems, and people who support any of the above such as partners, parents, or siblings.  Daughters & Sons United, a program of Parents United, serves children and adolescents who have been sexually abused, as well as their siblings.

Groups run in 12-week cycles with new cycles starting throughout the year.

Groups for children are free and adult groups are offered at $12.00 per 12-week cycle.  Scholarships are available for those who may struggle to pay the full $12.00. It is the belief of Parents United that everyone deserves help and cost should never be a barrier.

Parents United welcomes invitations to speak to groups about child sexual abuse and has a commitment to community awareness and public education.

Adults

• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Must schedule and attend a brief in-take meeting with the program coordinator before attending.
• Must not miss more than 3 meetings per cycle.
• If attending group based on a court order, must comply with all court orders and legal obligations regarding the sexual abuse and its consequences.
• All incest offenders musts be in or have graduated from sex offender specific treatment and be referred by their therapist.

Children

•  Must be between 8 and 18 years old.
• Child’s legal guardian must schedule and attend a brief in-take meeting with the program coordinator before attending.

Parents United: Tuesdays, 7:00pm-9:00pm

Daughters & Sons United: Wednesdays, 5:45pm – 7:15pm

Groups run in 12-week cycles throughout the year. Please call the Coordinator for specific dates.

Note:  The location of the groups are not published except to caretakers, child protective service workers, facilitators and group members (after they have gone through the intake process) to protect the individual group members.  For planning purposes, know that these groups are held in the downtown Omaha area.
